Established in 1946, Alba, Italy-based Ferrero SpA (2023 revenue approximately US$19 billion) may be best known globally for the product introduced in 1964: Nutella, the spreadable crafted from hazelnuts (Italy, Chile, Turkiye, United States), cocoa (Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana), and sugar from various countries.
At retail in Italy, a one kilo (2.2 pounds) container will price at approximately 7.99 Euros (approximately US$8.50).
However, from 13 June 2024 to 15 June 2024 at the G7 Italia Summit of heads of state and government at Borgo Egnazia in the seaside municipality of Fasano (Brindisi) in the Puglia Region, the principals will receive a very special G7 Italia Summit Nutella- in a presentation box, crafted from glass colored blue rather than clear glass with a wrapping. The limited edition G7 Italia Summit Nutella is the item everyone wants, but few will obtain. This should please Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkiye (2014- ).
G7 (2014-Present): Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and United States. The Russian Federation was excluded in 2014 because of its military actions on the Crimean Peninsula.
Guests (invited by host) At G7 Italia Summit: Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kenya, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkiye, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Vatican City, and African Union.
There is a satisfying consolation for those (and there are many) remaining wanting of what can be seen, but not consumed… Ferrero introduced this month Nutella Ice Cream which is available at the media centre for all to enjoy at the G7 Italia Summit.
One additional torture point- the huge Nutella pump dispenser on the counter at the Ferrero Café in the media centre.
