Zelensky Doesn’t Want To Visit Israel To Show “Solidarity” With Israel, He Wants To Visit To Promote Solidarity With Ukraine.  It’s About Him, Always About Him.  Draining Attention.

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine (2019), Does Not Want To Visit Israel To Show “Solidarity” With The State Of Israel, He Wants To Visit The State Of Israel To Promote Solidarity With Ukraine.  It’s About Him, Always About Him.  What He Wants.  Draining Attention. It’s Selfish.

Agence France Presse (10 October 2023): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that the violence engulfing Israel and Gaza risked distracting international attention from the war in his own country:

  • “There is a risk that international attention will turn away from Ukraine, and that will have consequences… are different, but both are immense.”

Reality Check:

President Zelensky has repeatedly excoriated the government of the State of Israel for not providing what he defines as adequate support to the government of Ukraine.

President Zelensky identifies as Jewish, as to senior members of the government of Ukraine.

Since 24 February 2022, there has been no visit to Ukraine by a prime minister of the State of Israel- there have been three during this period, and no delivery of military equipment, particularly the Iron Dome missile system (whose development was supported by more than US$1 billion in United States taxpayer borrowing).  No chance whatsoever for an Iron Dome missile system to be deployed now in Ukraine.

  • On 20 September 2023, on the sidelines of the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the State of Israel (1996-1999, 2009-2021, 2022-), met with President Zelensky.

  • Eli Cohen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, visited Ukraine on 16 February 2023.

  • Nitzan Horowitz, Minister of Health of the State of Israel, visited Ukraine on 4 April 2022

The government of the State of Israel has been transparent with the reason for its distance with providing military-related support to the government of Ukraine.  More important to the State of Israel to maintain cooperation with the government of the Russian Federation relating to activities by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) within the internationally-recognized borders of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Despite some successes from his bullying, insulting, threatening, belligerent, obnoxious behavior towards heads of state, heads of government, and governments, to obtain the commercial, economic, financial, humanitarian, military, and political support, President Zelensky continues to learn that Ukraine and the government of Ukraine are not the State of Israel and the government of the State of Israel when comparing sustained country-by-country political heft.

Where there is a comparison- both governments can and have pushed too far on occasions both bilaterally and multilaterally.  However, in the case of the State of Israel and individuals of the Jewish faith in senior positions throughout the public and private sectors, particularly in finance and media throughout the world, the State of Israel has far more formidable persuasive tools to use toward achieving its objectives.
