Calling 911 In Kyiv And Washington: Patient Not Dead, Needs Resuscitation, New Treatment, New Prescription. Opening For US-Russia Negotiated Cease Fire. The Man In The Suit.

Calling 911 In Kyiv And Washington: The Patient Is Not Dead, But Needs Urgent Resuscitation, Then New Treatment And New Prescription

Misreading The Audience Of The Audience

A Cease Fire May Now Be Crafted By President Trump And President Putin In Spite Of Ukraine, EU, And NATO

The Man Who Wore A Suit… Why Now?

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine (2019-2024; extended due to imposition of martial law in 2022), not only misread his audience- Donald Trump, 47th President of the United States (2025-2029) and J.D. Vance, 50th Vice President of the United States (2025-2029), but also misread the audience of his audience- the media pool, Make America Great Again (MAGA) voters, and appointed/elected officials.

The Trump-Vance Administration (2025-2029) would have preferred yesterday a different outcome than a cancelled signing ceremony, cancelled press conference, and unscheduled departure from under the portico of the West Wing of The White House.

Despite the reported orgasms among media leadership, political leadership, and private sector leadership throughout the Russian Federation and within the walls of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation (2000-2008 and 2012- ) knows a known trajectory is preferred to an unknown trajectory.  Momentum is best when uninterrupted.  What happened yesterday has created a more determined, angrier president of the United States.  With increased determination and anger often flows increased unpredictability.

A result from the visit yesterday by President Zelensky with President Trump may be an accelerated timeline for a summit by President Putin with President Trump.

Today, President Trump may have more initiative to craft bilaterally a cease fire agreement on behalf of Ukraine without Ukraine.

Basically, accomplishing his goal in spite of preferences of President Zelensky, some members of the thirty-two country Brussels, Belgium-based North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), some members of the twenty-seven country Brussels, Belgium-based European Union (EU), leadership of NATO, leadership of the EU, and heads of state and heads of government in other countries.

Diplomatically, there is a realistic trajectory for the bilateral negotiation- not trilateral, not multilateral, of a United States-Russian Federation Ukraine Cease Fire Agreement (USRFCFA) to be presented to NATO, EU, fifteen members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

President Trump and President Putin would jointly declare the document as a “take it or leave it proposition” which if rejected would then place “total and complete responsibility” to use phraseology preferences of President Trump, for the future of Ukraine upon those who rejected the USRFUCFA.  For President Trump- his message would be “you want responsibility for it, you can have it.”

President Zelensky, an experienced actor, director, and producer, the communication errors of yesterday were astonishing.  This is particularly enlightening given the production experience of Andrei Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Mr. Yermak, in what is believed to be the first time since 24 February 2022, wore a suit to the meeting at The White House.  He also wore a suit to a meeting yesterday with members of the United States Congress.

  • The New York Times (28 February 2025): “What was clear, from the start of the diplomatic visit to its abrupt finish, were the signs of antipathy between Mr. Zelensky and the Trump administration.  Mr. Zelensky, who says he does not wear a suit to show solidarity with his soldiers, wore the simple, military-style clothing he usually wears at official events. When he arrived at the White House, Mr. Trump told reporters, “he’s all dressed up today!”  Later, in the Oval Office, a reporter for the right-wing One America News asked Mr. Zelensky about it, saying, “Do you own a suit? A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the dignity of this office.”  Mr. Zelensky, a former comedic actor, jabbed back, saying he would wear a suit after the war ended. “Maybe something like yours?” he added. “Maybe something better, I don’t know.””

The seating arrangement in the Oval Office was also telling- on the sofa to President Trump’s left was J.D. Vance, Vice President of the United States, and Marco Rubio, United States Secretary of State.  He was, however, wearing a suit.

On the sofa to President Zelensky’s right was Mr. Yermak.  The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, was not seated on the sofa.

Prior to his departure from the United States, President Zelensky participated in a previously-scheduled interview with Fox News where he shared how he continues to acknowledge appreciation for the support of the taxpayers of the United States:

  • “It's the historical relations, strong relations between our people, and that's why I always began… to thank your people from our people," Zelenskyy said during an exclusive interview Friday on "Special Report."  "Of course, thankful to the president, and, of course, to Congress, but first of all, to your people. Your people helped save our people… we wanted very much to have all these strong relations, and where it counted, we will have it."

However, this is not accurate, President Zelensky conveniently discounts his statements in 2024 at the NATO Leaders’ Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, where he was publicly admonished by officials of the United Kingdom and United States for not showing “gratitude” and in response at a press conference mocked the need to express gratitude.  That was not the first time since 24 February 2024 that President Zelensky has criticized first and reluctantly appreciated later.

To be fair, President Zelensky is, but for different reasons, as is President Trump, an angry head of state.
