JAKE: One thing we hear on the Hill from Democrats who are pro-Israel, they want to know what happens after in Gaza. How do you respond to that?
NETANYAHU: I think we’re going to have to have sustained demilitarization, which can only be done by Israel against any resurgent terrorist effort. But I think there has to be a civilian administration to administer not only the distribution of humanitarian aid but also civil administration. That has to be done, I think best done, with the cooperation of an inter-Arab sponsorship and assistance by Arab countries. And then the third thing would be obviously some kind of deradicalization process that would begin in the schools and the mosques to teach these people a different future than the one of annihilating Israel and killing every Jew on the planet. And the fourth, it would be reconstruction, which would be largely taken, I think, by the international community.

The Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages. The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for Kuwait’s constructive role in getting humanitarian assistance into Gaza and discussed continued measures to ensure more humanitarian aid reaches those in need. They also discussed plans for post-conflict governance, security, and reconstruction. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister agreed on the need to prevent further escalation and to expand bilateral cooperation in the interest of regional peace and stability.

The Secretary and the Amir discussed ongoing efforts to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza that secures the release of all hostages. The Secretary thanked the Amir for Qatar’s continued indispensable role in mediating between the parties as part of its effort to promote regional peace and stability. The Secretary underscored that the ceasefire proposal outlined by President Biden would greatly benefit the Palestinian people through a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian assistance for distribution in Gaza, enable the return of displaced persons to areas throughout Gaza, and permit international reconstruction efforts to begin. He reiterated that the United States would continue to work towards a ceasefire grounded in the principles endorsed by the United Nations Security Council and countries around the world.
