Ukraine Gains A Partial Win From France-Base Accor: Russian Federation Properties Continue To Be Listed On allInternet Site, But Can’t Be Reserved On Internet Site

Issy-les-Moulineaux, France-based Accor S.A. (2022 revenue approximately US$4.4 billion) has quietly removed from its https://all.accor.com reservation portal the ability to confirm a room at any of its thirty-four (34) currently-listed properties in the Russian Federation.  The list of properties remains available to view.  The company reported fifty-six properties in the Russian Federation prior to 24 February 2022.  Five properties have reportedly closed since.

From the company: “At end-December 2022, Accor S.A. had a hotel portfolio of 802,269 rooms (5,445 hotels) and a pipeline of 216,000 rooms (1,247 hotels).”

From the company: “Accor is a world leading hospitality group offering experiences across more than 110 countries in 5 400 properties, 10 000 food & beverage venues, wellness facilities or flexible workspaces. The Group has one of the industry’s most diverse hospitality ecosystems, encompassing more than 40 hotel brands from luxury to economy, as well as Lifestyle with Ennismore. Accor is committed to taking positive action in terms of business ethics & integrity, responsible tourism, sustainable development, community outreach, and diversity & inclusion.  Founded in 1967, Accor SA is headquartered in France and publicly listed on Euronext Paris (ISIN code: FR0000120404) and on the OTC Market (Ticker: ACCYY) in the United States.”

From the company: (6/7/22): “Since the tragic escalation of events in Ukraine, Accor has been concentrating its efforts on making sure our teams, guests and local partners stay safe.  We have implemented major humanitarian efforts to support populations affected by the conflict or fleeing Ukraine, including providing 200,000+ room nights for refugees, ALL Heartist Fund donations to hotel teams, financial and aid contributions to local and international charities acting in support of Ukraine as well as job placement schemes for Ukrainian refugees.  Most recently we have further committed to actions of solidarity and support with Polish Red Cross and PTAK Humanitarian Aid Center Warsaw Expo.  Accor continues to monitor the situation closely and is making daily changes to our actions and activities in accordance with our stringent enforcement of sanction lists. Our warmest thoughts goes to all those severely affected by this war.  In times of turmoil, our hotels remain shelters to many people including foreign citizens, NGOs, and media, as has been the case for the past 50 years.”

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accor S.A. (3/2/22): “We have been in countries of war probably 30 to 40 times over the last 50 years on different continents.  Accor never pulled out of any hotel activities at the time employees needed Accor the most…. Otherwise, you won’t have any Bloomberg or CNN or any people basically on the news.  They believe that the brand will be a caretaker of their belongings…. This is not their decision.  I’m making a very distinct decision between the Kremlin and Mr. Putin and the population of Russia. And I can tell you, being on the phone with them, they are in tears. Those employees in Russia. they don’t understand what’s going on.”
