Memo For Heads Of State And Heads Of Government Meeting President Trump: Visit Tailor Beforehand- Make Certain Suits Fit Properly; Wear Cufflinks- Bring Extra Set
Memorandum For Heads Of State And Heads Of Government: Go To Tailor Before Meeting President Trump.
His wardrobe includes two-piece bespoke suits from Rome, Italy-based Brioni S.p.A. (a subsidiary of Paris, France-based Kering S.A.) and Brooklyn, New York-based Martin Greenfield. The price for a bespoke suit from either vendor ranges from approximately US$4,000.00 to more than US$14,000.00.
On 20 January 2025 in Washington DC was the second inauguration of Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States (2017-2021) returning to office as the 47th President of the United States (2025-2029).
No secret Donald Trump prior to, during, and after his four-year occupation of the Oval Office in The White House in Washington DC focuses, very publicly, on the personal appearance of others.
He has a gravitational pull to men and women who are good looking, well-coiffed, well dressed, well-educated, and financially successful. And when he sees it, he will mention it.
He does not, however, want heads of state and heads of government with whom he visits- whether as host or as guest, to upstage him by appearance, but he does judge them by their appearance.
When he is preparing to be photographed or preparing for a television appearance, he continually checks his overcoat (if he is wearing one), tie, and jacket.
Heads of state and heads of government will be wise to revisit their tailors in early 2025 to make certain suits properly fit- slacks not too long (careful of the full break), sleeves too long (want to show cuff), not too flashy a watch if wearing one, and shoes highly polished.
Most heads of state and heads of government want to reflect positively on their constituents- the voters who installed them in office. Unwise to have voters look at their president, prime minister, and think “my taxes are paying for that?” However, voters want their president and prime minister to stand as equals- or at least appear to stand as equals at government-to-government gatherings. They want to feel proud.
And if that means their president or prime minister should embark on a journey that includes a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, then so be it.
So, heads of state and heads of government preparing for a visit with re-elected President Trump should consider wearing a white double cuff shirt rather than a white one or two button cuffs.
NOTE: Some of double cuff shirts worn from 2017 onward by President Trump had “45” embroidered on the left sleeve double cuff. The number represented he was the 45th President of the United States. Perhaps, from 2025 onward, he will have both “45” and “47” embroidered on his shirts.
A head of state and head of government should consider a white double cuff shirt sans pocket. He usually wears one type of cufflink (see image). A head of state and head of government may use a high-quality enamel and metal cufflink representing the flag of the country, primary product of the country, or internationally-recognized structure in the country.
And, bring along an extra set of cufflinks to present as a gift to President Trump. If there is a pool spray in the Oval Office- do it, then he can show them to the media. He always enjoys receiving gifts and sharing about them… It is all about the presentation and performance.
