189 Minutes In Ukraine That Means Something: Sets Parameters For Visit Of President Biden, Refocuses Upon Biden-Harris Administration Officials Who Have Yet To Visit. Again, USAID Missing…
Dr. Jill Biden, Ph.D., First Lady of the United States, wife of Joseph Biden, 46th President of the United States, crossed by motorcade from Slovakia into Ukraine. Upon arrival, Mrs. Biden was greeted by Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Ukraine, wife of Volodymyr Zelensky, 6th President of Ukraine. From Media Reporting:
“The motorcade drove through Uzhhorod and arrived at School 6 public school now temporary housing and shelter for 163 displaced Ukrainians, including 47 children. The facility is supported by the United Nations-based International Organization for Migration (IOM), with funding provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
From Mr. Michael LaRosa, spokesperson for Office of the First Lady of the United States: The First Lady initially expressed interest in going to this region in March 2022 for her spring break, but the opportunity did not become available until later. “Mother’s Day was something she thought would be special for the mothers of Ukraine,” he said. The first lady’s office reached out to the United States Department of State and the National Security Council (NSC) at The White House, who approved the visit. The First Lady’s staff then connected with the USAID Office of United States Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) which includes the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) teams in the region to plan her travel. DART provides rapid response assistance to international disasters as required by the Foreign Assistance Act (FAA). Approximately ten days ago, when advance teams arrived to the region, they began to notify regional government officials of the First Lady’s travel plans which included the visit to the school in Ukraine. At that point the government of Ukraine offered to arrange a visit with Mrs. Zelenska which was confirmed within the last few days.”
Dr. Biden: “I wanted to come in Mother’s Day. I thought it was important to show the Ukrainian people that this war has to stop and this war has been brutal and that the people of the United States stand with the people of Ukraine.”
Mrs. Zelenska: “First of all, I would like to thank you for a very courageous act…. Because we understand what it takes for the US First Lady to come here during a war when the military actions are taking place every day, where the air sirens are happening every day even today…. We all feel your support and we all feel the leadership of the U.S. president but we would like to note that the Mother’s Day is a very symbolic day for us because we also feel your love and support during such an important day.”
From 2:58 pm to 3:58 pm the two women visited privately. Prior to the women entering a classroom hosting fifteen children, security personnel used hand wands to scan some of the children. Dr. Biden’s motorcade departed the school at 4:19 pm.”
