Chris Christie Refuses To Disclose Who Paid For His August 2023 Visit To Ukraine. Mike Pence Disclosed His Source Of Funding For June 2023 Visit To Ukraine. Why The Lack Of Transparency?

Thus far, two announced candidates seeking the 2024 presidential nomination of the Republican Party have visited Ukraine.

  • One visit was transparent- providing the name of the entity which provided the funds for the visit.

  • One visit was not transparent.

4 August 2023 (Kyiv, Ukraine)- Chris Christie, Governor of the State of New Jersey (2010-2018), United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey (2010-2018)

  • Why has this candidate refused thus far to be transparent as to who paid for the visit to Ukraine?  Why the secrecy?  Does the lack of transparency impact the brand of the candidate?  Should it?

29 June 2023 (Kyiv, Ukraine)- Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States (2017-2021), Governor of the State of Indiana (2013-2017)

  • As traditional with politicians, travel expenses were paid by a third party.  Always informative about character when a politician seeks others to pay for what should be a personal expense.  If visiting Ukraine is of such importance, then why is it not worth spending personal funds?  It’s a question of character.

  • Boone, North Carolina-based Samaritan’s Purse, a not-for-profit organization managed by Franklin Graham, the son of Reverend Billy Graham (1918-2018), organized this visit to Ukraine and a visit in March 2022 where Mr. Pence “met with refugees who had spilled over the Ukrainian border into Poland” and “went to the Ukrainian border and met with refugees.”
