Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada (2015-), during a 10 June 2023 visit to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, referenced in separate remarks the phrases of President Biden and Chancellor Scholz.

As a direct result of Volodymyr Zelensky (2019- ), President of Ukraine, and elected and appointed officials within the government (executive branch and legislative branch) of Ukraine, relentlessly and reckless advocating for immediate membership in the thirty-one country Brussels, Belgium-based North American Treaty Organization (NATO), the result is as expected.
Heads of state and heads of government of NATO member countries have become ever-more forceful, distinctive, and resolute that the government of Ukraine will not be a member of NATO, and NATO members will not make absolute commitments to defend the government of Ukraine while- and for substantial time after a cessation of hostilities between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of Ukraine. NATO has no obligation to the government of Ukraine. Despite objectives by the government of Ukraine, NATO military personnel will not engage on the ground within the territory of Ukraine against military personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
From Prime Minister Trudeau: “Canada supports Ukraine to become a NATO member as soon as conditions allow for it. Ukraine and Canada look forward to addressing these issues at the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July 2023.”
While leadership in governments express concern for “Ukraine Fatigue” they are now confronted with a more personalized “Zelensky Fatigue” whereby heads of state and heads of government, and taxpayers in those countries funding (and borrowing to fund) commercial, economic, financial, humanitarian, military, and political support for Ukraine are becoming less transfixed by, less unimmune to, and less inclined by invitations to “kiss the ring.”
