On 17 April 2025, Emmanuel Macron, President of France and Co-Prince of Andorra (2017-2027) met at the Élysée Palace in Paris, France, with representatives of the government of the United States; representatives of the twenty-seven country member Brussels, Belgium-based European Union (EU), of which France is a member; representatives of the government of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland); and representatives of the government of Ukraine. Some participants were included in both meetings.
European Union (EU): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
With one exception (the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom), the participants selected by the respective governments France, EU, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and United States were white men.
Women represent approximately 51% of the population of the European Union, approximately 52% of the population of France, approximately 53% of the population of Ukraine, approximately 51% of the United Kingdom, and approximately 50% of the United States. Women represent approximately 40% of the world’s population.
To be fair to women, important to acknowledge that decisions by men commenced the Russian Federation-Ukraine war.
On 24 February 2022, the armed forces of the Russian Federation invaded and further invaded the territory of Ukraine in what Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation (2000-2008 and 2012- ), defined as a Special Military Operation [SMO] then on 22 December 2022 he redefined as a war. The initial invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation was in part from the territory of Belarus.
The war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine did not commence on 24 February 2022. The roots began their trajectories on 20 February 2014 when the armed forces of the Russian Federation invaded the Crimean Peninsula and the area known as the Donbas Region (Donetsk Oblast and Luhansk Oblast).
For women, the consequences of those decisions represented by the XY Chromosome Club have been and will continue to be borne significantly by women- as caregivers, medical service personnel, educators (trying to explain what men have done), managing workplaces, caring for orphans, and serving as the frontline for guiding the restructuring of society. Should women not have a seat at the table?
At the tables in the Élysée Palace on 17 April 2025, President Macron’s representation of “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” from Article 2 of the 5th Republic's Constitution collided with the 21st Century’s goals for and then hostility to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
President Macron, Donald Trump, 47th President of the United States (2025-2029), Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, President of European Commission (EC) since 2019 (reappointed in 2024 to a second five-year term), and Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine (2019-2024; term extended due to imposition of martial law in 2022), could not see the value of a woman at the table- either table.
There was not at least one woman qualified from a pool of twenty-nine countries to assist with trying to end what exclusively all men initiated?
A female perspective would have forced discussions that a bunch of middle-aged men would rather avoid.
