223 Days... If President Putin Attends The G20 Summit, He Will Have A Platform From Which To Explain His Decisions. The Other Participants Will Have A Platform To Respond. He Should Not Be Excluded.

The 17th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit is scheduled for 15 November 2022 and 16 November 2022 in Bali, Indonesia.

Everyone Should Be Invited.

If President Putin Attends The G20 Summit, Then He Will Have A Platform From Which To Explain His Decisions.  And The Other Participants Will Have A Platform To Respond.

November 2022 Is A Millennium When Calculated In Political Years.  Nothing, Something, Everything Could Change During The Next 223 Days.

President Putin Might Decide Not To Attend.  There May Be Legal Issues For Him Or His Traveling Party If Indicted By International Criminal Court (ICC).

Why Forgo An Opportunity To Ignore President Vladimir Putin, Excoriate President Putin, Shame Those Leaders Who Interact With President Putin.  Absence Only Serves As A Reminder Of Weakness Rather Than Strength.

For Joseph Biden, President Of The United States, He Can Look President Putin In The Eyes And Say, “You Are A War Criminal.”

For Manuel Macron, President Of The French Republic, He Can Look President Putin In The Eyes And Say, “J’Accuse!”

President Biden Has Throughout His Three-Decade Plus Political Career Promoted The Value Of Face-To-Face Discussion As A Means To Resolve Issues.  The War In Ukraine Should Meet The Criteria For A Face-To-Face Discussion.

The Host Nation, Indonesia, May Invite Guest Countries To Participate In Selected Gatherings Of At The G20 Summit.  Joko Widodo, President Of The Republic Of Indonesia, Should Invite Volodymyr Zelensky, President Of Ukraine.

Those Governments Who Oppose Decisions By The Russian Federation Relating To Ukraine Should Not Preempt Any Imagery From President Putin Interacting With, Shaking Hands With, Posing For Photographs With Those Heads Of State And Heads Of Government Who Have Not Directly And Consistently Condemned Decisions By And Embraced Economic And Commercial Sanctions Of The Russian Federation And President Putin:

·       Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China

·       Narendra Damodardas Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India

·       Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

·       Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa

·       Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey

·       Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of the United Mexican States

If Heads Of State And Heads of Government Know President Putin Will Be At The G20 Summit In November 2022, Between Now And Then They Might Change Their Positions- Or Change His Mind.

ABOUT THE G20- “The G20 is a strategic multilateral platform connecting the world’s major developed and emerging economies. The G20 holds a strategic role in securing future global economic growth and prosperity. Together, the G20 members represent more than 80 percent of world GDP, 75 percent of international trade and 60 percent of the world population.  Starting in 1999 as a meeting for the finance minister and central bank governors, the G20 has evolved into a yearly summit involving the Head of State and Government. In addition to that, the Sherpa meetings (in charge of carrying out negotiations and building consensus among Leaders), working groups, and special events are also organized throughout the year.”

PARTICIPANTS- “The members of the G20:  Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. Spain is also invited as a permanent guest.  Each year, the Presidency invites guest countries, which take full part in the G20 exercise. Several international and regional organizations also participate, granting the forum an even broader representation.”

“Representatives include, at the leaders' summits, the leaders of nineteen countries and of the European Union, and, at the ministerial-level meetings, the finance ministers and central bank governors of nineteen countries and of the European Union.  In addition, each year, the G20's guests include the Chair of ASEAN; two African countries (the chair of the African Union and a representative of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and a country (sometimes more than one) invited by the presidency, usually from its own region.

Comparison With Summit of the Americas

The discussion about including President Putin in the G20 Summit is not dissimilar to the discussion within the Biden-Harris Administration (2021- ) about who to invite and who to exclude from the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California, from 6 June 2022 to 10 June 2022.  There are advocates for excluding the heads of state from the Republic of Cuba, Republic of Nicaragua, and Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, among others.  If the United States and other country governments have issues with the commercial, economic, and political behavior of the Miguel Diaz-Canel-Valdes Mesa Administration (2018- ) in Havana, Daniel Ortega-Morales Administration (2007- ) in Managua, and Nicolas Maduro-Arreaza Administration (2013- ) in Caracas, and they certainly do have issues, then isn’t productive face-to-face dialogue, confrontation?  Both the Federative Republic of Brasil and Republic of Colombia have endured the consequences of millions of citizens of Venezuela entering their respective borders.  Colombia will elect a new president on 29 May 2022.  Brasil will elect a new president on 2 October 2022 with an if-needed run-off on 30 October 2022.
